Prepare your Property for your Photo Session

  1. Make sure your home is cleaned, vacuumed, and straightened up so it shows at its best.
  2. Remove any personal photographs throughout the home.
  3. If you have children, make sure their names are not on the walls of their bedroom. Protect their privacy as well as your own.
  4. Make sure family pets are secured or located in an area that will not be photographed, so they don’t get in the way of the photographer or in the pictures.
  5. Straighten or adjust all furniture, window treatments, and artwork on the walls. The photographer may also do some slight rearranging.
  6. All beds should be made and covered. Make sure there is no clothing hanging in the bedrooms or on the floors.
  7. Remove extra appliances and clutter from the kitchen and bathroom counters.
  8. Remove all personal items from the kitchen and bathroom counters.
  9. Also remove all throw rugs or mats in hallways, kitchen, and baths. This makes the rooms look larger.
  10. Make sure desks, dresser tops, coffee tables, nightstands, and fireplace mantels are free of magazines, papers, and clutter.
  11. Make sure there are no cars or other types of vehicles in the driveway or parked in front of the house, if at all possible.
  12. Place trash cans and recycling bins out of sight of the main house.
  13. Make sure the outside of the house is manicured, clean, and free of debris. This includes having the lawn mowed, bushes trimmed, and children’s toys and bicycles stored away.
